1. Who we are
Akù is a personal finance app made by NIPPYSKY, a technology company based in Nigeria (nippysky.com). References to "we", "us", or "our" mean NIPPYSKY. Reach us at contact@nippysky.com.
2. Data we collect
- Account data: email address (for magic-link sign-in) and an optional display name.
- Financial data you enter: expenses, income, bills, savings goals and contributions, recurring templates. All entered manually by you.
- Device data: a push-notification token, device platform (iOS/Android), and timezone for correctly timed reminders.
- Aggregated signals: anonymised percentages and counts (e.g. savings rate) used only to personalise your notifications.
We never collect bank credentials, card numbers, BVN, NIN, or any payment instrument data. Akù does not connect to your bank.
3. End-to-end encryption
All financial data is encrypted on your device with AES-256-GCM before it leaves. Our servers store only ciphertext — we cannot read your financial entries. Your email and display name are stored in plaintext because they are required for authentication.
4. How we use your data
- To authenticate you and sync your encrypted data across your devices
- To send push notifications such as bill reminders, goal milestones, auto-log confirmations, and personalised insights. You can disable notifications in your device settings, and bill reminder timings can be adjusted on each bill.
- To improve the app using anonymised, aggregated analytics only
We do not sell your data. We do not use your data for advertising.
5. Data sharing
Data is shared only with infrastructure providers that host our servers (contractually limited to hosting), and where disclosure is required by law.
6. Data retention & deletion
Your data is retained while your account is active. You can delete your account and all data at any time inside the app (More → Delete Account) or via our account-deletion page. Deletion is immediate and irreversible.
7. Your rights
You may access, export, correct, or erase your data at any time using in-app controls, or by emailing contact@nippysky.com. We respond within 14 business days.
8. Children
Akù is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.
9. Changes
We will update this page and note the revision date above whenever this policy changes.
